Virtual Refinery Software
 The virtual refinery software integrates a dynamic process simulator with 3D virtual reality capabilities. This unique system is used to train console operators and field operators as a team. All values displayed in the DCS views and outside views are based on material-balance and energy-balance calculations. The system is particularly geared towards simulating upsets that can only be solved by team effort, like instrumentation- and equipment failures. Trainees are evaluated and all their actions can be traced step by step by the instructor. Start-up, shut-down, and emergency procedures that typically involve many steps by both board-operator and outside-operator can be practiced and checked for feasibility.
As the networked-PC based system requires no special hardware, system administration and maintenance are very easy. |
